My Favourite Travel Destination
My favorite travel destination is Kandy, a city that holds a special place in my heart with its unmatched beauty and authentic charm. There are a few places I never miss visiting whenever I'm there, and each one brings a sense of peace and connection to the past.
The first place I always head to is the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. As a Buddhist, this spot means more to me than just a place to pray—it’s where I find real spiritual energy. The temple’s history hangs in the air, and there’s this deep sense of peace as soon as you step inside. I can’t help but stop and stare at the old murals on the walls. They’re stunning, telling stories from the Kandy era and showing off the skill and devotion of people who lived centuries ago.
After the temple, I love wandering over to Kandy Lake. This is where the city really feels alive to me. It’s calm, the views are gorgeous, and at twilight, when the air cools down and everything slows, it’s pure magic. I like to walk around the lake, just taking in the trees and palms, feeling all my worries drop away. Sometimes, I’ll sit by the water with a hot hopper in hand, listening to the gentle breeze, and honestly, that’s happiness in its simplest form.
You can’t talk about Kandy without mentioning the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens. The place is bursting with color—flowers everywhere, giant trees, and these sweeping landscapes that beg to be photographed. It’s peaceful, a breath of fresh air. The climate just adds to the laid-back vibe.
The city’s streets have their own charm, too. I love getting lost in the narrow lanes, with their old colonial buildings and lively markets. There’s something timeless about it all. Locals buzz around, chatting, selling, laughing, and the whole scene is just so full of life.
Then there are the dams and reservoirs around Kandy, like the Kandy Reservoir itself. The water sits so still it turns into a giant mirror for the hills and sky. It’s beautiful, quiet, and the kind of place where you just want to pause and take it all in.
Every one of these spots—whether sacred or just plain scenic—reminds me why I love Kandy. The peace, the history, the beauty, it’s all right here. I can’t wait to share some of my photos on my blog and, hopefully, pass on a little bit of the city’s magic.

Your blog looks cool. I also personally prefer traveling, especially since I'm having a tough time with my two-year-old baby. I'll tell you about my favorite travel destination—it’s probably a beachside. I enjoy it a lot.
